@banfff No problem, most people didn't donate, which is fine. That system doesn't work, that's why we're trying these options. The cost of a premium account will be communicated when 2.0 is coming online. It won't be expensive, we promise :)

Please add premium accounts. I've been using this site a lot and just didn't think about donating (as in didn't see the option). I feel bad that it had to come to this for me to realize I should donante.

What about a premium account that is $1.5 a month or $12 for a year?

@tronuser We're sorry. The ads will get more relevant over time and we'll experiment with placement. We cannot guarantee you will not see them (which is kind of the point).

@dbdbdbdb We've tried donations. They don't generate (nearly) enough income.

@Knaldskalle Some ads are CPC (money per click), some are CPM (money per viewing). Depends on the advertiser. And thanks for the compliments, nice to hear that :)

@Manuelvdv Premium accounts will come in two or three categories and will be (very) cheap!

@SrBrits Thanks for the suggestion :)

@dumbed down Premium accounts will be peroidically paid (monthly and/or yearly if I remember correctly). We might also include a 'credit feature', where you can poor money into your account and have some deducted monthly. Great suggestions by the way!

@seabreezes The end of the beginning, actually ;)

@Deus I don't want to engage in online discussions here, but: I don't see how this is bad news. We provide a service, which you get to use for free. You only have to endure some ads for now, which you may be able to switch of later, in return for a small fee.
Either of those generate income for us to pay for our servers and maybe a little of our time. You have to keep in mind: we poured many, many (many!) hours of our very own time into this project, which we don't get paid for. To top that off, we pay for the servers together, which isn't cheap.
Donations don't even come close to paying for our hardware and server costs, so we're trying to at least get that covered with this 'bad news', as you call it. :)

Are premium accounts monthly payments or one-time upgrade payment? Because I would definitely upgrade for one-time and donate when I can, instead of monthly payments. Too me, monthly payments would be perfect if we were integrated with movies sites to able to watch movies online(Netflix, Zediva, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc) and this site automatically updates your profile accordingly for that level of convenience(yes I know its far off, but still). Just my frame of mind...

Speaking of convenience, I would also like to suggest that this site needs a "iCM Check" button for sites like Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB, and even Hulu and Netflix(possible?) . Pretty much similar too the "Like" or the "Retweet" button for those social networking sites. So we wouldn't have to scroll and search for movies. My apologies if this had already been suggested or pending.

PS: No worries, ADP will be disabled for this site.

@Gib: Nice. You've been here a month and you've already found the Caps Lock key. Progress!

Does "eyeballs" alone generate income for iCM? Or do we have to click the ads before the cash register goes off? If "eyeballs" are enough, I'll be happy to switch off my trusted AdBlocker just to help generate a couple of pennies Eurocents.

YES! Yes! Yes!

P.S. You guys don't get enough credit for how beautiful this site is! Love the design and layout!

Makin' a Facebook integration would make iCheckMovies.com grow faster, wich translates in more incomes.

I have no problem with the ads. As you say "a necessary evil". I absolutely understand that. Even though I don't know what a premium membership will include, I'm already pretty sure I'll buy it, unless the price is way too high.

I'd gladly pay for a premium account at icm, which would be my first online.

Everyone: like we said before, basic accounts will (mostly) keep the current functionality. Premium accounts are aimed at users that want more than just a bit of checking. You'll soon learn what 'more' means (you could also browse our video blog, Twitter and this blog if you want a preview of some of the features).

And thanks everyone for un-AdBlocking this site. You truly are an awesome bunch :)

I don’t mind me a premium account as long as it’s affordable and it has cool features.

I didn’t know you guys are in Netherlands at all. Nice.
