I like the sound of where things are heading! Getting an app would be great, letting other people write one (or many) is even better. Open source means we can help make things better.
I think the ideas are great; a better comment section and a mobile friendly version are real nice features that I'd really like. Maybe we could have a small team of in-house editors that write a small blurb for some movies to create a more personal atmosphere.
In any case, great work, I have had a lot of use out of the toplists. My life feels more organized thanks to his site :)
I have to agree that the idea of moderators is indeed a great solution.
People like mods are dedicated, spend lots of time on the site, trully care about the site/movies.
I'm sure we can find such kinds of people and they'll improve things on here!
P.S. You are only 3? Didn't expect that.
Still took you a long time to update the blog, i thought the next one was gonna be about the design.
But i'm glad this was it, because since you claimed ICM isn't in it for the money, it feels more like "our" site now that members are gonna be involved too. (hopefully)
Mostly, these sound like good steps to me. I'd suggest you lean heavily on the forum that already exists in connection with this site. There you have a body of very committed and scrupulously observant fans of the site, and I think they would be the best venue for many of the forms of participation you mentioned (such as adding official lists (without wrecking the tenor of the site), helping out as tech-savvy moderators, and monitoring cheaters).
Over on the Unofficial ICM Forum we have an active discussion about this blog post. I think the forum format is a little more conducive for a back-and-forth about this topic. Join us at:
Nothing to really add in here, but just few observations.
Responsive site is a great step in right direction. An app would be great, but not really a priority with the responsive site. And the beta version looks good.
Kudos to all three of you guys. Keep up the good work. :)
Very nice to see where all this is going! Especially excited about the "making as many lists as you want" stuff; since I think there are a lot of great opportunities there (especially when it comes to underrated and lesser known films which can be made more known through these lists - they don't even have to be official for that).
Also, like someone else already said, you are only three? Wow! Even more respect to you all!
Hmmm, I don't know guys. I'm here since last year but I really like the things just the way they are. I think that is good if you wanna make changes, but not doing it all in once. The beta seems to be very overloaded aesthetically, I don't like that :/ I don't know. What I know for sure is that I love this site, just for you to know.
