The Searchers

We have updated the website today, fixing some annoying issues (such as public lists not being shown on the profile page and minor edits of personal lists losing the previous ranks) and improving on others. For the full list, please check the changelog and/or our Trello board.

In this blog post, we want to focus on a new feature we added: the friend finder. Although befriending other users has been a feature of iCheckMovies (almost) from the beginning, it is not always easy to find your friends on iCheckMovies (e.g. their usernames might differ from the ones you know). As many of you probably have Twitter and/or Facebook accounts, we have added an option to find your Twitter and/or Facebook connections that are also on iCheckMovies. This will allow you to quickly find all your friends on iCheckMovies. Please note that for this to work, you must have connected your account to Twitter and/or Facebook. You can do this at the extension settings page. After you have connected your account to Twitter/Facebook, just go to the friends finder page and we will try to find you friends.

To further enhance the process of befriending people, we have removed the separate request friendship page. Now, simply clicking on the heart icon on a profile overview page will send the request. Furthermore, all profile pages now display the heart icon, so you can request someone to be your friend far easier.

We hope you like this feature.

Cheers,

The iCheckMovies team

edit: due to server problems we had to revert to the previous version so the described fixes and functionality are temporarily not available. We are working on fixing this.
edit2: the problem should be fixed
