The solution that would satisfy us all (except for the complete social network haters) is whether to move the stream to Activity tab and leaving the main tab as it was before, or letting users pick what they desire to see on the main tab (which seems to be harder to implement since the layouts for the first concept already exist).
I personally miss the compact ordered frames with latest checks/favorites at the right side of the main tab we had not so long ago.
Monteyn: Criticism is fine, but even if Piet and the crew have made some significant missteps, your first post's tone and that of many others are not helpful to the cause. If you like this site, why not be supportive?
If we want this site to better fit our ideals, we should assist them in making it so by making constructive commentary. Discouraging the developers isn't exactly the best way to motivate them.
This new activity stream feature plain sucks. It messes up the profile page no end. Additionally, there's no way to disable this feature. Why?
I want my old profile page back!
@george4mon That's because you've changed your checks to private on the privacy settings page. Your rank will be reinstated if you change your settings to public again.
Now that makes much more sense. :) Thanks for the fast response on the criticism, it's really appreciated and using the sites feels more natural again!
It is. Thanks. Yet I still don't understand why the "Settings" cell keeps on deserving such a privileged position at the very centre of the top row. It is not the kind of information one expects to find first and foremost when checking a dashboard.

Agreed, I like this layout best. It gives the social networking crew what they want without the overhall of the whole site. Thanks for always listening to user feedback!
