I made a few typos before... first closed parenthesis should be open, "let along" should be "let alone". Also forgot to emphasize that I too feel that enjoyment should be first priority. Fundamentally, I think, we all watch movies to try to feel good/be entertained/for some artistic purpose. Or, as Martin Scorcese said, "Films fulfill a fundamental need for humans... to share a common memory." Something like that. Food for thought, anyway.
nygfred56, I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. I, too, like going into a movie "as fresh as possible". It's not always a necessity---sometimes the film has great appeal because of its execution when the story is already known, like Shakespeare adaptions, for instance---but most of the time I like going into a film that, somehow, I have an impression I'll like )a good cast/director perhaps) without really knowing anything about the film itself. There have been many times where I will dredge up movies off my hard drive that I didn't even know I had, let along how I obtained them... I ended up watching some of them completely randomly and loving them.
Anyway, I'm glad you pointed those things out; it's good to see someone else out there who feels that way. :-)
On an unrelated note, I almost have bronze for this list! I think it's a pretty good list. Hopefully one day I'll get platinum lol.
You are right about the 90%, I should stop internetting past bedtime ;)
I do watch whatever interests me, such as Superman Returns which turned out to be shite. I also watch movies that do not interest me because of a possibly boring storyline, but because they are popular, and quite often they turn out to be pretty good. So I'll just continue exploring new genres, directors, actors and styles, while I can. And lists like this are pretty good for that, just as the imdb 250 is, or even the "iCM most popular movies" list.
And regarding your comment towards DonkeysRAliens, I find this site to be a fine source of possible enjoyable movies, as there are many lists to choose from with quite a broad spectrum of genres and movie styles.
Another 15 minutes of precious movie time wasted ;)
Seen all of these. Worked by way through it. Very proud of myself.
Some absolute crap on there but some stuff I never would have heard of I have now seen and for that I'm thankful.
I see a lot of people complaining about Transformers being on the list and I can understand that, not being a big fan of Transformers myself, but I would rather watch that over The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I just watched it the other day and it is pretty unbearable. I am really surprised anybody voted for it. Maybe Danny Kaye is more popular in the UK or something.
I should add a disclaimer that I am a huge fan of classic films so I have no bias against any film's age.

That being said, i understand the argument that you should watch movies for enjoyment, or enrichment, or other reasons. Not to complete a list.My first priority is enjoyment, not list completion. But list completion and awards definitely factor into my decision.

I think it's something psychological. Some imbalance. We feel like we have to experience everything good, regardless of the impossibility of the task.Mackmannen
My favorit list. :DEvil_bob

Good list, all over the place, but it's a nice mix.baraka92
This list is a joke. Transformers is above Battleship Potemkin!!!UnEnfantPerdu
Having no movies by the great Kenji Mizoguchi is probably the biggest disappointment about this list. Otherwise it could be a lot worse.Dr Pandhattan
"Transformers," "Anchorman,""Dances With Wolves," "Grease" and "The Godfather: Part III" are all above "The Seventh Seal?" Seriously?
Public Enemy
"This list is a joke. Transformers is above Battleship Potemkin!!!"Check out what the list is again. I don't find it surprising that Transformers has been seen by more people than BP.
