This one is okay. I watched it because it was praised for its visual appearance which I found good but not exactly astonishing. It's an interesting story, dealing with important topics like religious fanatics or a woman's role within society... but it was not as gripping or touching as I had expected.

Of course the religious conflict was displayed in a way that really makes you despair and I did ask myself once again if there's any hope that mankind will ever stop fighting over that. But still my attention faded from time to time because some scenes were just not gripping enough.

Other scenes were nice though. I especially liked the scene in the morning after the night when Hypatia first considered the ellipsoidal orbit, when she stares at the sun with that look in her face as if she sees the sun from a different angle now, like she knows she understands a little more about it now. 10 years 4 months ago
