Why is it threatening to have a film with strong women and weak men when there are hundreds of films out there (some award-winning) that deal with charismatic leading men and women who are little more than love interests or damsels in distress?
For what it's worth, is a lovely film. I think fans of One Hundred Years of Solitude and/or other works by García Márquez would get a kick out of this film's subtle, distinguished brand of magical realism.

A showcase for the ugly face of radical feminism. All women are wise and good whereas all men are evil, vile and weak-willed simpletons. Throughout the movie this twisted fundamentalist-feminist worldview is rammed down the viewer's throat.
Avoid this sick propaganda film like the plague.
