I'm not as militantly against "found footage" films as others, but this is one movie that is absolutely ruined by that choice of direction. The concept, actors and visual effects were all great, and the script is perfectly serviceable. But the rediculously boring direction and heavy-handed fake film grain and interferance added during editing completely ruin the film, and keep you from ever getting drawn into the narritive.
The difficulty with this film - and with several other pieces of the found footage genre - is the complete implausibility of the footage being released. Considering the Kennedy files weren't originally scheduled for release until 2038 (now 2017,) why would this have been released, especially when it points towards
a government cover-up
?
I wanted to like this film, but it was fairly dull, with nothing of note actually happening until nearly 30 minutes through the film.
I actually preferred Moontrap (1989.) After all, that had Bruce Campbell in it.
Its a great concept, but a terrible film. It didn't need to be a found footage film, though it would've been better if it was a better found footage film. The found footage nature feels tacked on.
People want happiness and super-color 3D nonsense. At least this movie's not that sloppy Apollo 13 shit! I loved the soundtrack which was free from those hollywood mega orchestra madness...

Not bad, I was expecting worse, but nothing really original. The only thing I really liked was the music.thaleya
They could have done so much more with this. I was hoping for something a little more thrilling.samfenn
Relatively tedious at points, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would have been; I did actually enjoy it.But, of course, the bullshit about it being a true story does considerably ruin it.

A great concept and more restraint than most found-footage films but these limitations are also the film's downfall. 5/10.Follow me on Twitter @LastFilmSeen
