Too long, poorly paced, and didn't play into any of Baz Luhrman's strengths. Furthermore, it felt like two movies stitched together, instead of one long story. Probably not as bad as some reviews have said but certainly not good either
It wasn't even that bad.. But I can see why people wouldn't enjoy it. It's one of those movies where if you aren't swooped in somewhere in the first half hour, you won't last the 2:45 hour playtime.
A beautiful movie with visually amazing scenes as well as very touching ones. I liked the historical setting and the addressing of problems like racism and war. Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman were wonderful.
I was expecting this one to be awful as I've listened to very bad reviews. The truth is that it's one of the most beautiful and moving movies I've seen. :')
I preferred Australia to both Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet but it still had some familiar Luhrmann problems. It was structurally flawed, had some non-sensical beats and concerned itself too much with the visual that it forgets to tell a proper story. Also, the kid's performance was grating which is a problem when he has such a big part and it was much too long.
For me it was watchable for its interesting historical setting, aesthetic and Nicole Kidman but not rewatchable. 5/10
i loved this movie, we had it on dvd and to be honest it took me over two days to watch it. Its amazing when you half breaks between parts, but yeah i guess it would get boring if you're watching it for 2 hrs 45 mins continuously. But all in all i honestly think it's a beautiful and remarkable movie =)
I enjoyed the first half of this movie, but I have to say I think I've gone off Nicole Kidman a little-it just seemed contrite and awkward. I really think it should have ended when the house and garden were all flowery and green and pretty. All the running around after that had my back aching and my legs permanently bent into the shape I was sitting in so I couldn't walk out ;) But yeah Not my favourite film by far.

Enjoyed every minute of it. The long beginning, long middle and it's long everything. Kinda hoped it would never end :DIt had all time best movie kiss that's for sure, gave my stomach twists.
