It will most likely be remembered as a political symbol, because the movie itself was bang average.

This movie deals with some heavy and important themes about colonialism, african identity and the opression of an entire race...

Anyway! Can’t wait to see Black Panther fight a purple alien in Infinity War.

If you think this movie is good just for political correct reasons, then you are probably a little bit more racist than you think... other than the cool VFX and some of the characters, the movie is actually plain and predictable. not worthy of being considered one of the best Marvel movies, but definitely way better than the worst ones.

Well, without the political charged buzz around the movie, nothing really stays. This movie has a policical agenda - which I like, but is one the one hand really blunt about it and on the other hand rather disappointing. It ranges in my book in the lower third of marvel movies. Sometimes it is not enough to have a great cast, something to say and enough money to make a tentpole movie. You have to make an engaging film out of it otherwise you get something like "Black Panther", which is simple spoken: dull. I plays it in my opinion very safe and strangely unengaging... A little bit like "Luke Cage". Sadly another missed oppurtunity by Marvel 6/10, cannot really recommend it. Watch "Get out" or "Thor: Ragnorak" instead.

can't shake the feeling there's a better movie in there, told from Killmonger's (antagonist) point of view. But then that wouldn't have fitted into the studio's plan and so we enjoy this version.

Really quite a boring film, which is disappointing as there's something good in there trying to get out.

Wondering if all the effort to show 'African' culture actually comes across as rather patronising in reality.

If they'd done 'African' in the style of Fury Road...then you'd have a film experience worth talking about.

The only slight disappointment I had with this movie is that the "what are those" meme exists in that universe.

I loved everything about this movie. The plot has its weak points, but every charachter is so well portrayed, tech/costume design is fantastic, soundtrack is perfect and everything is just so charming...

Among the best MCU movies for me, on par with Guardians (very different movies, but both spot-on and masterfully executed).

OK with a different approach but cosidering the box office and the critical praise I was expecting something REALLY special. It was ok but nothing special. Overrated

So, this movie was nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture from a Post-Credit Scene?

It's a more traditional Marvel movie, in the sense that it doesn't move super quickly and it feels more natural. It's a stark contrast to how Marvel films have become super busy and overstuffed.

The political underpinnings are definitely there, and there are times when the agenda is very clear. Nevertheless it is a very entertaining film.

For a superhero movie, it wasn’t very super. Poor CGI in places which is surprising for Marvel. Plot holes all over the place, especially the conceit that the well-informed Wakandans were entirely unaware of Killmonger’s existence LOL. Hoped for better after hearing good things but it’s average at best.
