Woke agendatrash before it was popular. In that sense, groundbreaking.
Still a shitty predictable set-piece charade where you know exactly what's gonna happen to every character. Tries to be 28 days later and fails miserably. Looks like a PS3 game.

I read the book it's based on and thought that it wasn't very good - saw the comments and awards the movie got and thought I would give the subject a second chance. The concept is great but the realisation weak - too many loose ends, super unrealistic action, lack of clear motivation from main characters. I am very surpised that they got celeb actors with such a weak scenario and an Oscar for the screenplay? Ridiculous.

The movie was powerful in concept, but I didn't get why there was all this chaos, it fails to show the connection between the women infertility and all the madness and decay of humanity, why the war and racism and hatred for the immigrants, why all the violence...

I don't really feel it was one of the best movies I ever saw. But it gives a very realistic view of a dystopian near future. And also storywise it doesn't have the same flow in story other movies have but it's more like would happen in real life I think.

I didn't really care for Clive Owen though...

If a Sci-fi film puts the character's world over the characters themselves, then problems are bound to multiply but it's a problem that Children of Men never falls into. The characters are certainly the main attraction here. Clive Owen is gritty and serious in all the right places and the plot is tight and poignant. It really is a poster child for good Sci-fi and really exposes why so many other entries in the genre fall flat on their faces. Far too often films use CGI or technology/gadgets to cover up for the severe lack of character development and it just doesn't compare to a character-driven sci-fi/dystopian story. Those long scene cuts are downright beautiful and well choreographed.

"Very odd what happens in a world without children's voices."
