I love the artistry of the filmmaking, but I'm afraid I can't dismiss the girl-stalks-boy storyline as simply "quirky". As others have noted, swap the sexes and nobody would find it cute.

Come for the Cinematography, stay for the two quirky love stories.

Great film by Wong Kar-Wai. A funny, sexy, 90's classic!

I have seen 3 Wong Kar-wai films so far. Fallen Angels, 2046, & Chungking Express. This one is my favorite by far.

A film with two love stories between characters with troubled lives.
I didn't like the way the first story was shot, and found the "shaking camera" quite annoying. Fortunately the shaking ceases for the last sequence in the bar.
I found the second story greatly shot.

Why is this in the Mystery top list? This is a romance movie, plain and simple; no mystery whatsoever.

My god, was this boring or what? By far the best thing in this movie was California Dreamin' but when it came on for the sixth time, it became frustratingly annoying.

I don't know the laws so I can't tell you if she's guilty of breaking and entering, but what I can tell you is that she's guilty of breaking and entering my heart.

Chungking Express by Wong Kar-Wai. Not so much a movie as two movies, with common locations and themes, but no intersecting plots. Both feature lovelorn cops and Wong Kar-Wai's lyricism and poetry. In the first, a cop obsessed with things (and relationships) having expiration dates crosses paths with a bewigged drug smuggler, but doesn't know what he's got. In the second, a slightly crazy girl redecorates another cop's apartment in his absence, replacing his ex-girlfriend inch by inch. The screwball romance stars Tony Leung again, but it would have been my favorite anyway.

Enjoyable. Second story drags on a bit, but my God does Tony Leung look good in uniform.

I don't see what is so special in camera shaking and in this weird plot.

Wong Kar Wai doesn't seem to disappoint. music is great.

two distinct plots loosely connected together, but entertaining nonetheless. His style is amazing
