One of the worst films I've ever seen from 1940s Hollywood. Betty Hutton plays a compulsive liar who confesses to a murder so her boyfriend can become famous as her defense attorney. The plot makes no sense as it requires Hutton to implicate herself in the murder one minute and fight for her innocence the next. The mystery goes beyond obvious, as there's only one other suspect, a burglar who hangs around the courtroom, takes the stand as a witness and even gets to visit Hutton in jail. And they never even suspect him until after the trial. Adam Sandler movies are less sloppy than this, and sadly they're funnier too.
