Thought it was just going to be stupid Brit-grit stuff, but it was excellent. Excellent performance by Considine.

Excellent! I really like movies with that raw feel to it. I didn't expect it to be this good...and so much green!

A wonderful slice of Brit grit from Shane Meadows. No-one makes proper British cinema like he does. Paddy Considine is wonderful in the lead role and the story veers from the shockingly brutal to the heart-wrenchingly moving. It's brilliant.

Very good film. Brutal, moving and oddly understated. Paddy Considine is excellent. Would highly recommend to anyone.

A great film. I prefer it to 'This is England'.

Didn't expect such great cinematography and such a bucolic glimpse of the UK countryside. Violence aside, of course.

Now this is how you do 'gritty british realism' - perhaps only 'This Is England' comes close.

I found the plot incredibly inane, man. When the flim's credit rolls, I am ready to forget it. It's mainly about vengeance. A solider returns to town after his service in the military and initiates a rampage on those who had abused/humiliated his mentally challenged younger brother during his absence, consequently led to his suicide. I don't know how to take this film because it presents little to no value, a little bit in entertaining and that's all. Sure the story is told in an interesting route and I like it - black and white flashbacks providing audience background info. I found the movie too unrealistic. The small town seems anarchy. No police. No community's interventions. Anthony is abused in broad day light by the whole mob yet no one notices. When he is dead, no one gives a shit either. If no one knows about the crime, how would Richard knows? He was away the whole time so someone must informed him about Anthony's ordeal and the info of his perpetrators. If witnesses were available, how come no one reports? It's just baffle me. The little twist makes it a little better. I don't like this movie and won't recommend it.
