Watched this again since it was on TV, and it was actually not nearly as bad as I remembered. Don't get me wrong, it's not good... but it was decent.
Verdict: Watchable. Lots of celebs in this version, mostly b-list of course but have some fun and try to spot them all :)
PS. The female cast is hot!
* possible below *
Dracula (a young and skinny Gerard Butler!) quickly turns Jennifer Esposito and Jeri Ryan, and as smoking hot vampire vixens, they get quite a lot of screen time. Jeri's cleavage is especially spectacular and generously displayed.
The acting overall is weak, Gerard did a pretty good job though. If we overlook the rather ridiculous preface as the casket is stolen, the remaining story is decent and told in a somewhat coherent manner.
You can't not love the effect Dracula has on the women in this version, the immense presence that overwhelms their senses and sweeps them away in a river of desire. 12 years 3 months ago -
shitmovies
Great movie. One of the best Urban Horrors. The characters all work well and Jonny Lee Miller's everyman slayer makes every action sequence more intense.
Another great thing about this movie is that all the vampire tropes feel well executed and meaningful in context. The part with the bible could have been just another trope but when it happened it kicked ass. The director really knew how to make you invested.
Pacing is near perfect except the midpoint. Mary is a pretty flat actor. Too many plugs for Virgin. Apart from that a pretty flawless movie.
The sequels suck dick so don't bother with them. Idiot critics made the director go back to aping Hammer instead of continuing with this style of movie. We never really got more of this because Twilight ruined the genre soon after. 1 year 8 months ago -
