Brilliant movie, it's become one of my favourite horror films.Aside from the old gypsy curse cliche - I wish they'd used something not based on a racist stereotype - I can think of nothing else wrong with this movie.
Every time I watch this film I have such fun. I laugh, I get grossed out, I recoil from the screen in horror... What more can you ask for really?
(However, I really think you need to 'get' Raimi's sense of humour and his horror style to appreciate it as much as I - and the other fans of this movie - did. That's not a criticism of anyone, just a matter of taste. It's really where all the negative criticism comes from.)

Whoever says this movie is terrible did not understand anything about Sam Raimi.constantina

Hilarious movie. Liked the ending.Cassiodoro
For Raimi lovers.EylemBasakEkinci
Sam Raimi returns to his roots in "Drag Me to Hell," a flagrantly schlocky horror yarn that will titillate the teens without alienating the director's far pickier fanboy contingent, who will find the "Evil Dead"-style action they've been clamoring for in a surprisingly potent PG-13 package. When the bank forecloses on an old gypsy's house, it's the unlucky young loan officer who risks having her soul repossessed in this throwback to both Raimi's early work and '50s B-movies. After booking the pic in coveted midnight slots at the SXSW and Cannes fests, Universal should see strong awareness yield heavenly returns.Siskoid
Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell is a fun, kinetic horror film in the style of, well, Sam Raimi, about a girl who falls prey to a "gypsy curse" and subsequently gets stalked by a demon intent on [see movie's title]. Allison Lohman is a credible heroine in this black comedy, and Raimi supplies her (and us) with lots of jump scares, gross-outs and cartoon logic. Apparently, the horror imagery is specifically culled from eating disorder experiences - and there enough repugnant stuff flying into the actress' mouth to bear this out - but if it's true, it's merely a psychological hook to make us squirm; it really has nothing to do with the story. Raimi remains a master of horror-comedy, though if I'm being honest, it all ends too abruptly, and on the wrong "twist". No spoilers, make of that what you will.essaywhu
This one of the best horror comedies we have gotten in years. I had fun seeing the throwbacks from the Evil Dead series (like the car.) It isn't quite as good as those movies but it is still a lot of fun as well as gross and funny. It would have been nice to see an Ash cameo though.Milkman Dan
This was pretty much what I expected from Sam Raimi: jump scares, gross-out scenes, and plenty of dark humor to go around. And the ending was perfectly appropriate, even if one could see it coming from a mile away.Earring72
Good shocker with plenty of gross out moments......but the ending was a let down.franlreal
One of the funniest movies I have seen . Cult classic.dayofthewoman
If anything, it was completely and utterly disgusting. I don't know if this counts as a *spoiler* but, when the old lady puked in mouth or when that stuff came out of the old lady's mouth when she dropped out of her coffin, and went into the girl's mouth, i almost barfed. otherwise, it was hilarious when she said, "eat it, b*tch!"Scratch47
Best horror in a long time, the PG 13 doesn't make a difference. Great finale too.jml897
I liked this, but I wouldn't put it anywhere near Raimi's earlier stuff.Nothing against Alison Lohman, but she's no Bruce Campbell.

It's got Sam Raimi's fingerprints all over it from top to bottom, that's for absolute certain. He knows how to straddle that tightrope between horror and comedy well enough that he's practically invented his own kind of style for horror movies, practically even his own sub-genre actually. If Raimi is your thing you won't be disappointed, if not then I can see it being kind of hit or miss with most horror lovers.Showing items 1 – 15 of 46
