One of the most overrated films I've watched. Fantastic cinematography and artistic direction, but ultimately, a film that's too dark for children and too stupid for adults.

I've tried watching this movie twice (Edit: THREE) now and both times gave up. A beautiful film, but slow-developing in the area of plot. And because it's in Spanish, it is so tedious to catch all the imagery while trying to read the subs.

Had to read some Wikipedia articles to even know what was going on with the political/military stuff post-Spanish Civil War.

I think I'll take David Bowie and those awful muppets over this.

I don't think there is one likeable character in this movie. Can't say I enjoyed it, it is visually very good but probably 6/10.

A lot of people seem to not enjoy this movie due to lack of knowledge in mythology, namely Spanish as well as overall global. Some history knowledge of the Spanish is needed as well, namely the Spanish civil war, without these bits of information.. Well.. The plot seems far too confusing. It's much like watching SAW while it's already half way through, or any movie for that matter. In my opinion, the movie is perfectly good, you just need to see it with eyes that are properly educated for the plot and it's intentions.
