I grinned all the way through. I saw the first Evil Dead with a bunch of friends, which was loads of fun, and I was planning to do so with this one as well. Guess I got impatient and just watched it by myself, and proved that you don't need to watch this with friends to laugh out loud once in a while :P
Groovy. Though I actually do prefer Evil Dead to Evil Dead II, simply because 2 becomes a bit too farcical for my taste and I enjoy the everything-and-the-kitchen-sink stylistic approach of the first one.
Evil Dead II, a movie that throws everything at you, and succeeds. Horror, humor, suspense, drama, and action are all juggled perfectly by Raimi and by the flamboyant Bruce Campbell. A lighter tone and my cup of tea as opposed to The Evil Dead.
Judging from the other comments I must just be outside the range of people who can appreciate this movie. I can see what the movie's trying to do, I think, but I got almost nothing out of it, as a person who likes almost every movie I see. A couple of points worth a small chuckle, but that's it.
Slapstick comedy parody/satire of the original, which could have done something for me, but completely failed to do so.
Huge step up from the first. Bruce Campbell gives a fantastically unique performance and the script, horror, humor and feel all work together to make something really groovy.
