I love this movie but I only have one gripe...

...I never got to see Aunt Hattie from the depot!

if anyone happened to spot her or heard someone make mention of her, please message locovoco...thank you...

Disappointingly dull. I suppose if you find the concept of weddings (and the preparations surrounding them) inherently funny, you might enjoy this one. I barely cracked a smile. When the nightmare sequence is the best part of a comedy, something is wrong.

Nothing spells "dated" like a Spencer-Tracy-fronted 50s comedy from Vincente Minnelli.
No front, it's not bad, it's just .. the opposite of new and fresh. Carping aside, the nightmare sequence was a highlight!

Tracy was good, but the movie itself was mostly ordinary. I don't like Liz Taylor, so I guess that didn't help.

I have seen the 90's remake with Steve martin and the sequel to that. But I can't find it on here. Having said that I love this movie. Very poignant but at the same time classy and classically funny.

like a really long, mediocre episode of i love lucy. calling this a good classic comedy is devaluing preston sturges' entire output.
