Crosses the 'so bad it's good' line with such admirable vigor that it loops back on itself and becomes just bad. Really, really bad.Implar

I'd rather watch the Room again ... with Tommy Wiseau sitting right next to me ... then watching this abomination a second time!"What's a buttplug?"

Spoiler alert: nothing happens. Pretty f*cking boring.I did laugh, a lot, just because it was so bad. Don't waste your money on this one.

Just so I'm clear, is this a prequel to American Psycho or not?Kyurino
Such a bad, and totally boring, film.dream_tiger
2015 is off to a horrible start. We have Taken 3, Jupiter Ascending, Chappie, Focus, Wild Card, Blackhat, Mortdecai, The Wedding Ringer and this piece of shit to top it all as the most checked of 2015 so far.Selanne
The most boring movie i've watched in cinema.IreneAdler
First off, I don't consider this a very good movie.I have NOT read the books. Although I do find the general topic interesting, I went to the cinema with very low expectations. I expected the movie to be very corny and far too romantic and I was not wrong. For a character who claims he doesn't do romance Grey seemed a bit too soft and, yes, romantic at times.
That's probably partly the book's and the screenplay's fault, but I also strongly disapproved of Jamie Dornan's performance. I know it's hard to find the right actor for such a role because people are attracted to different types and everyone considers different people handsome. But it's not just about looks, it's also about acting and charisma. I know many actors who are not strikingly or obviously handsome but charismatic enough to fascinate an audience nonetheless. I understand that charisma is a vital quality of Christian Grey but I did not see it in the movie.
Finally, the explicit sex scenes were only partly exciting. I don't know if it was a missing chemistry between the actors or just bad writing, but I have seen hotter scenes in other movies with a lot less toys and a lot more clothes. Something was just missing for me. I don't mind the explicit scenes, they just didn't get to me in this case.
All in all, I enjoyed the funny scenes most of all, the little scenes were Dakota Johnson makes you smile, like the interview in the beginning or the way she's sometimes insecure and sometimes really enjoying Grey's company / the way Grey makes fun of romantic relationships by saying good-bye to Ana with the same words other couples do, just ironically...
AND I loved the beautiful big-city shots.
All in all, it was alright to watch it once, though not particularly enjoyable. Interesting topic, but a little too corny for me... we probably owe that to the books, which I haven't read.

This was loaned to me by a friend who said "Try it, it's not bad... you might be surprised." Turns out she was half-right, I was surprised, but only by how much worse it was than I expected.Just watch Secretary instead, which dealt with similar themes in a far better way.

Some hilarious lines thoneocowboy
I should have just watched Secretary again. James Spader is the original Mr. Grey. Why does this film have no third act?
