The first time I saw this I quite liked it. It did NOT live up to any subsequent viewings. Today, I am afraid I have to admit I largely dislike this film.

There's some really good bits, but overall it creaks a bit, and the ending didn't quite work for me. The final scene with the different ages of New York felt unnecessary as well. We know what New York is, you don't need to lay it on that thick.

Pretty solid film imo. It's not Scorsese's best, but definitely not his worst either (which is Aviator). I though the performances were above average and the soundtrack is superb! Didn't feel too long. 8/10

Diaz should have definitely been cut from the film in favor of someone else. Other than that, it is a pretty solid piece of cinema.
