I honestly enjoyed it and I'd recommend it, but I've some things to say:

It was very predictable, it is basically a combination of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Martyrs, but it has its own ideas. First of all, from the moment they got to the house I had a pretty close idea of how the family was going to be and by the moment the guests arrived the sectarian aspect was obvious, but even though it was predictable, the development of the plot was good. The biggest issue I had while watching was the scape part, instead of killing the entire family, I think he should kill only the brother and then scape without the family noticing him (or at least trying not to be noticed), problably I'd left the part with the servants and the girlfriend chasing him, this way it would have increased the suspense drastically.

Lo dico perché ci sono delle scene in cui si cerca di mettere ansia allo spettatore con immagini e suoni improvvisi e questo mi dà fastidio perché non era necessario. Comunque, inizialmente, c'è qualcosa che non torna perché in famiglia sembrano tutti strani e non si capisce come mai l'amante del protagonista non si sia mai accorta di nulla circa i comportamenti assurdi della sua famiglia.
Poi però si capisce il motivo e tutto sembra incastrarsi abbastanza bene.
Il finale lascia un piccolo colpo di scena perché
ci si aspetterebbe che il protagonista venga arrestato, cosa che, ovviamente, guardando il film, non avviene
.
La scena abbastanza stupida, che è tipica dei film di 30 anni fa, è quando l'amico (addetto alla sicurezza dell'aeroporto) va alla polizia dove viene preso per i fondelli per quello che dice. Sarà un omaggio a questo genere di film o, più probabilmente, per giustificare l'intervento solitario dell'amico, ma, secondo me, potevano risparmiarsela.
Nice thriller with some scares and good dialog, but I don't get the praise for something new......If you seen The Skeleton Key than you guess the plot after 20 minutes. But still very entertaining and good cast
I started watching this, not knowing what it was about, and thought it was quite pleasant until we met the parents... then shit got weird.! The tiny hairs on the back of my neck stood to attention and stayed there. Now I like a good psychological thriller, but this was way more than that. There were times when I wished I had cushions to hide behind... this is bloody terrifying.!! What an EXCEPTIONALLY BRILLIANT movie.
Better than I was expecting, actually had a bit of depth for a horror film, plus I think it did a good job showing the everyday racism that we go through but that mostly gets ignored.
So overrated. Social commentary aside its a bang average film and It seems to me that all of the praise for it is borne from tokenism, which is ironic really as that just ultimately takes away from the message the film is trying to send.
I really wish that this film was better than it is, but the sad reality is its little more than a B movie with an unsubtle message that has been overrated to the point it seems slightly patronising.
Having said that, I prefer my horrors to be scary so perhaps I was never going to get along with this.
not scary? this movie is fucking horrifying. THIS is what horror should be like, not dumb mosters and jump scares. it is excellently acted, excellently paced and just keeps you at the edge of your seat the whole time.
it reminds me of Joel Edgerton's The Gift, in that it's not a "supernatural" horror but it is incredibly, truly scary the whole time.
