Regular film with a interesting ending. That's all.

I have to agree that there were plot holes and some bad plot directions. However, it still stands as a great "who done it" in my book. That Amy lady was just plain sick! Ben Affleck gets better and better every time I see one of his movies. It's wonderful to see him progress.

The most terrifying thriller in years. If Rosamund Pike doesn't get at least an Oscar nomination, the world is twisted.

A delightful, truly edge-of-your-seat thriller that will terrorize you long after you leave the theatre. Not to be missed.

5 stars out of 5.

Beautifully shot, as is no surprise with David Fincher. However, it felt too forced with the dialogue and the eeriness. Felt unfortunately very Hollywood for me and lacked a severe amount of authenticity. I left feeling very disappointed.

brilliantly crafted. some showings find parts of the script humorous, while during my showing all remained silently rapt. lots to chew on and it left me with all kinds of feels, which is a rare way to walk out of a cinema these days.

Haven't read the book. Avoided reading anything relating to the film. In fact I wasn't even going to bother seeing this one in theaters if it weren't for free tickets. The work of David Fincher in the 21st century doesn't really connect with me, or rather it leaves me as cold and emotionally devoid as the characters that interact in his films.
Much like Fatal Attraction or Audition or Hard Candy before it, I leave Gone Girl suspicious of females. I've met a few that are as manipulative as Rosamund Pike's Amy but none were as perfectly mastermindful. And that is the true highlight or revelation of this film--Pike's performance. Her debut as a Bond Girl in Die Another Day did not have the immediate impact on her career that such a high profile role might typically bring. The twists were predictable but they weren't really the focus as much as the great acting. Even Ben Affleck with his Batman pose was intentionally wooden which I guess counts as a good performance.

The score by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross is present in nearly every scene and is a continuation of their prior two collaborations with Fincher. I loved their work on The Social Network and thought it did wonders to elevate a well-written and well-shot film. However, it sounds like they took a few cues from the "Facebook Movie" and Dragon Tattoo and slightly remixed them to become rather obnoxious once you realize its presence (especially near the end).

Overall, I wouldn't say I enjoyed it nor would I say I hated it. It was interesting and I hardly noticed the two and a half hour runtime (my theater suffered from a few technical problems which hurt the pacing and flow of the movie). It's not Fincher's best nor his worst (I refuse to list either as it is obvious to each individual where they stand in that regard), but it is quite a rare film for mature audiences especially among all the comic book and mindless actioners that are ever so popular.

What's creeping me out about this movie is that Rosamund Pike (who portrays psychopath Amy Dunne)
looks EXACTLY like Yvonne Strahovski (who portrays psychopath Hannah McKay on the last season of Dexter)[imahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yvonne_Strahovskige][/ihttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosamund_Pikemg] I'm staying FAR away from these two girls...seriously, cast you little blue marker over each name, right click, and select Bing lookup

This is probably the most nervewrecking movie I have seen in 2014. It's a sadly beautiful depiction of manipulation and psychological violence. It perfectly punches the media and the people in the face with their own blindness. And I honestly don't think people understand that behind the story, there's a message (intended or not, I've spent over two hours with that flashing in my face) for them.

The movie in itself is not perfect. Too many moments were obvious for my liking. It's like they forgot where they left off and where they were going, and filled in those minutes with something dramatic.

The acting is superb, and nothing less. Pike and Affleck both played their roles to perfection, and the rest of the cast fill in what's missing. I was sickened by Amy, and I felt the frustration Nick had to experience.

The soundtrack had a creepy Sci-fi feeling to it at some points, and it just messed with my head like it's supposed to do. The picture was almost too beautiful, which made it even more disturbing, because when everything went down south, it still looked good. Close to perfection, very close.

A complex affair comprising a disappearance, a trouble marriage, adultery, wicked dark plans, investigation & a big media circus ... Totally different spin on a troubled marriage story. Very dark, edgy at times

‪‎Rosamund Pike‬ gets among the most conniving and bold female roles and does full justice. A much-needed female psychopath is how the online world is feeling about her role. Intense indeed ... ‪‎Ben Affleck‬ provides the lighter moments ... We have the news-hungry media, a twin sister, dutiful cops, a smart lawyer, ex-boyfriends, a young girlfriend as the support cast

Heavily dialog driven and may startle audiences, particularly towards the end. Eng subs needed for full-justice.

The BGM score is totally in line with the movie's tense and dark theme and adds to the experience. Typical ‪‎David Fincher‬ stuff ... The movie does have its fair share of sex, making-out scenes and blood, which have been toned down in theaters.

Although I loved the story / the basic idea and all the twists and turns, I don't think of this as a very good movie. I consider David Fincher a great director, but this is not his best work.

They managed to turn a captivating story into a film with incredible lengths - I've hardly ever seen a movie that had so many boring parts despite containing provocative language, quite a few sex scenes and some violence. I guess in some movies that can spice things up or take the story somewhere interesting - but not this time. I was not offended, just not really entertained either.

The critical approach to the media was a nice touch, though.

I also couldn't really connect to any of the characters although it's normally exactly those troubled, broken or difficult individuals that make a film interesting. But in this case neither the dialog and script nor the actors were able to draw me in. There were some great moments of conversation between Rosamund Pike and Neil Patrick Harris but that was about it. I've seen some of the actors in better shape - even Ben Affleck has had way better scenes in other movies than in this one (though I've never been too fond of him). Rosamund Pike was quite fascinating at times, but even her performance could probably have had a greater appeal to me if the script had been a little different.

All in all, I guess everyone involved was quite passionate about this project and as apparent from many comments there are lots of fans of this movie - but it just lacked something to really make an impact on me, even though I like the genre and I like manipulative characters and possibly provocative scenes.

But I do have to give a final credit to Tyler Perry: His portrayal of the lawyer was amazing and his lines were hilarious. His performance (as well as that part of the script) was really one of the highlights of this movie.

EDIT: I removed the dislike now. I disliked the movie out of a spontaneous reaction to the lack of excitement I had about the film as a whole - but elements like some funny moments, the great background story and Rosamund Pike's performance finally caused me to at least remove the dislike. I'm still not too fond of the movie but it felt right to recognize the quality of certain parts of it.

I have waited for this film for such a long time and wasn't disappointed!! It was true to the book which I love. To see the characters brought to life and given such justice, well done Ben Affleck I had my doubts but you nailed it!! You've earned some respect. Rosamund was also Sublime as Amy Dunne. Brilliant! Can't wait to purchase the DVD!
Sidenote: I went to see this movie with my best friend whose name is Amy Dunn - You just couldn't make it up could you!!
