I feel that Silence of the Lambs was much better than this one. This one relied too much on the violence and had less emphasis on the psychological aspects that made Silence great.
Not that bad. People would do better to stop comparing it to Silence. It isn't as good, but it's competently written, well-acted, enticing, and very disturbing.
I watched this again, back to back with Silence, which made Hannibal seem cheesy and vapid in comparison. Having Hannibal as the main villain didn't work in this film. Even with Sir Antonhy Hopkins amazing portrayal, I felt Hannibal went from a chilling murderer to a telenovela villain. I even liked Red Dragon better than this one.
