Visually stunning, snowy, icy realism, with beautiful shots throughout, as in so many of the Swedish silents. But in the 37th minute, spoiler

Still, if one can put this moment aside, and get past the repetition of scenes with drawn-out histrionics, the overall lyrical and visual beauty of the film makes it well worth seeing! Really a must for silent film fans.
