Went for a darker tone than the first but didn’t seem to commit to it. Not as much lighthearted fun as the original. But it is highly entertaining and has some good moments.
Not gonna lie, I don't think The Incredibles has aged all that well. Looking at it today, you can tell the animation is a little rough. Incredibles 2, though it has some of the same general structure, is the better-looking picture by far. I'd even say there's a discrepancy between the original characters' more basic looks and the models for anyone new. Generally, the level of detail, the textures, the crazy action, all are of a very high level. This is very much ElastiGirl's story, and if stretching has always seemed kind of a silly power in comics, it's the most badass thing ever in this movie (Fantastic Four movies, look upon this work and despair). All her scenes look great. Mr. Incredible is meanwhile mostly stuck at home taking care of the kids, a running subplot made fun and engaging by the explosion of powers from Jack-Jack and the revelation that supers might exhibit different powers until they "choose" one at some point. Really makes you want a third film to skip ahead in time to see just what happens there. Jack-Jack gains an archenemy too, so it'd be worth it. I don't think we'll have to wait 14 years for the next one, is what I'm saying.
Strong super-hero movie of the lovely family. 8.5/10
For me the usual good-bad fight was more like a backstory. More interesting line is meant for parents - super-hero families have everyday life too. You need all your super-powers to rise your kids.
Scene stealer is baby Jack-Jack.
Before the main movie there was short movie "Bao".
Edna Mode: Done properly, parenting is a heroic act... done properly.
This honestly was a very entertaining movie. Not sure why the other commenter is saying that it wasn't more fun that the part 1 but this was actually 10/10 for me on imbd too as it genuinely was engaging, entertaining, bag of laughs, great music score, incredible animation, bob odenkirk.. I could go on.. but one of the best Pixar movies for me.
I waited 15 years for this?! Movie Bob explains it better why the movie didn't work, and he pretty much hit all the problems I have with the film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwkSBGhVpzI
I was going to write a full-length review, but you know what, I just couldn't bother, much like how Brad Bird doesn't seem to bother. It has so many good plot-points about feminism, the reverse role of men and women, the emasculation of people and society when offered the privilege of convenience, individualism vs. following the law (something Civil War already tackled, sort of), but none of them seem to have a proper payoff. Just a bunch of ideas slapped together to have an excuse for a fun but nonetheless shallow fight sequence with nothing meaningful to say.
5/10. Was going to give it 6/10 since it's still a fun superhero flick that pays tribute to the Golden Age of superheroes in its visual style and even narrative theme (showing heroes being heroes), but watching Bob's review and thinking about how disappointing all this has been (especially to a Pixar fan like me who has been disappointed since Cars came out in 2006), I couldn't really care.

In a nutshell, this is a very mediocre movie.Such a shame as the original is one of my favourite cartoons.

Unneccessary and very predictable with jokes falling flat.CodeV
