A lot of heart and a lot of laughs. Very well acted and though the story is familiar territory it doesn't take away from the film at all. The script took full advantage of the culture clash between the characters and used it to full effect.
It has come to a point in this time of ours when everything has to be rated against what's already there or what is expected from someone. Movies had become a commodity rather than a medium where we just forget reality and take a dive into the realm within the silver screen where someone painted the canvas with their thoughts.
In my opinions, there are good movies, there are bad movies and there are average movies. Cliches or not this one was one of those good movies.
Heart-warming, funny story about a black ex-con, who takes up the challenge of caring for a rich, white paraplegic. The funny parts are funny, the chemistry is palpable and the story as a whole is designed to be a feel good, happy-ending tale. As someone who takes movies for what they are, instead of comparing them to everything else, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Before I comment, I must admit that I'm feeling a bit pensive which might make this comment pensive and a pensive comment read thus might make a pensive reader-and for that I apologize from the bottom of my pensive heart...
I know this is based on a true story but didn't it feel like this French crew just got together one night and had an American movie-thon and watched Half-Baked and Awakenings and said 'Eureka' Nous devon faire Intouchables (We must make Intouchables)!? And that, therein, lies the problem of the movie for me. Because wouldn't Dave Chappelle and Robert De Niro have killed this movie? As this movie stands, we get ok look-alike French stand-ins who spend so much time trying to be funny that when we, the audience, are expected to take the serious parts seriously we just can't....why? Because so much time was spent on the jokes (some worked-most didn't) that the backstory was left thin.
So, overall it was refreshing to get a little political incorrectness for a change and it was nice buddy movie but does it deserve such high accolades as Oscar-worthy or IMDB 250- worthy? Uh...no.
Intouchables is a well-made French film that would cliché if it weren't based on a true story (which is perhaps why they needlessly pushed that issue in the closing moments). In it, a rich paraplegic befriends an ex-con hired to be his caretaker, and they get down to the heartwarming comedy of teaching each other a few things. Both members of this "odd couple" are well played, and there's hardly a dull moment, but true or not, it's a formula we're well used to. It didn't actually take me to a place where I would laugh or cry out loud, but I can see how it would work for most audiences.

Heartwarming film without being too emotional, sentimental and overly dramatic. They got it right.zombierobo

A good comedy and a good drama. It's really hard to combine such genres in a single movie. Beautiful. 8/10eakosif
It certainly does not deserve its ratingnicolaskrizan
so cute and endearing it rings untrue – not in the bookhttp://beyond1001movies.wordpress.com/

I thought it was charming and enjoyable and I really didn't mind the clichésZolex
I usually never like movies in languages I can't speak or understand. Intouchables on the other hand, instant favorite. Wonderful movie!arrbrr

So funny and moving!! It makes me wish I could understand French fluently, then I bet it would be 5 times funnier. I'm glad I saw this.Showing items 1 – 15 of 71
