The Music Room is Regarded as Ray's greatest achievement after his The Apu Trilogy. This is what we can call a simply great masterpiece: Simple but Great... Roy is one of the last landlords or "Zamindars". His greatest joy was his beloved Music Room where he held spectacular soirees until a tragedy struck him and was plunged into darkness filled with regret. Now, He is left with nothing in his life but nostalgia of his grandeur life...

The Music room is a genuine piece of art that shows us the transition from one era to the other. But it doesn't end here. The film also showcases one of the finest cinematography and soundtrack in cinema. It has a rich symbolism; Satyajit Ray usually inculcates symbolism through animals and sound effects. The Music Room was such a beautiful reenactment of a classic story. The final result was a little Shakespearean and poetic.

One of greatest Indian films of all time. Flawless.

Honestly, Indian music baffles (and irks) me. Sounds like redundant screeching and drumming to me. The story of THE MUSIC ROOM is not lost on me but I found it annoyingly slow. A masterpiece? I guess you have to greatly appreciate Indian films to think so.
