Story of a married director creeping on a young woman. The real life married director had an affair with the 20+ year younger actress. Critical darling, but this felt transparently unctuous and self-serving. The director-surrogate set off red flags even before I read the offscreen drama.Hong Sang-soo recycles the binary story-telling conceit he used in Virgin Stripped Bare By Her Bachelors (2000), but whereas his earlier film contrasted the relationship from the man's and the woman's perspective, yielding interesting observations, now we just get two very male variants of a creepy seduction attempt.
