This movie should be the motivator for anyone. If this movie could get an original screenplay oscar you could do anything or could become anyone.

Great movie along with a glass of scotch and a beer on a late saturday evening.
Scarlett Johansson is as beautiful as ever and Bill Murray's acting is superb as usual.

Slightly overrated in IMO. There isn't really much happening throughout the movie. Not a bad movie though, just not that interresting.

Ok I'm quite confused.

Bill Murray is great as ever and it did a good job at capturing real life and being (alone) in a foreign country. The dialogs feel genuine, soundtrack is good and is not used to create emotion there isn't.

However in spite of all this I just found it painfully boring.
Maybe I fail too see the point and I really think I do since so many people and critics think this is a great movie.

I just feel like it's completely overrated, boring and pretentious though...

A truly hideous film. Shallow and pretentious. Coppola expects her actors to pick up the slack from her lousy screenplay, but there is only so much they can do with their quiet stares. The film pretends to be poetic and ''tender'' as I read everywhere else, but unfortunately it's anything but. Looks closer and you will see that it is at it's core quite cynical and problematic when it comes to racial issues, as in ''us and them''. ''Look, crazy japs! We can't understand them...poor us. WHAT DO I DO WITH MY LIFE?'' *silent stares and que ipod-shuffle music*. This movie is redundant and neither profound nor beautiful. Disgusting.
