The high point of this film has to be that someone in the audience didn't shut up all the way through the film. I complained and got my money back. Lazy script, thrown together for the minnions. Put in a car chase that will convince us what a great Action/Sci-Fi crossover it is. Terrible from start to finish.
I can't think of a single positive thing to say about this film. Without addressing the ridiculous premise and plot holes, by the midway point, the only character the audience could possibly care about has morphed into an emotionless invulnerable god-like terminator, thus removing any subsequent capacity for danger or suspense. A laugh out loud movie without any jokes.
I liked the basic idea and premise of the film. I always love Scarlett Johansson and she also did a great job in this movie. Some scenes were really funny and some visual effects pretty impressive.
But other scenes seemed a little exaggerated or out of place... and the cuts to the animal and nature images were very fitting in some scenes, but just annoying in others. The story-telling lacked something - not all the time, but still...
Another thing: The conflict Lucy was going through - her growing intelligence and decreasing ability to feel - held some real potential, but was not really explored. I bet Scarlett could have excelled at that, but she wasn't really given the chance. Maybe bad directing, maybe a bad script.
All in all, some interesting ideas, some great scenes and images, a great actress - but some big deficits in the execution of the film. Not too bad, not exactly great. The story could have been the basis for a better movie.
Obviously, I'm not going to change any minds nor do I plan to, but anyone who didn't like this film because it was "dumb" obviously does not understand camp!
This movie is totally underrated. Not only did I have a blast watching it, it presents a very interesting view on life and all of existence. Not as bonkers as all the critics try to make you think it is. That 10% brain capacity thing is kind of true. of course we use more than 10% of our brain, but I think we only ever use 10% at a time, so it's not all bullshit. Nice nod to Baraka (the movie, not the character from Mortal Kombat).

Its funny how people urge to say fake we dont use 10% etc and what do they say next ? nothing, so they just assume if its fake the film must be crap. Good Logic kids, you know what harry potter is fake too, does it make it not interesting to read ?

Except all the entertaining action, the film figures knowledge transmission as the life main purpose, but beyond this limit of life, a whole part of the movie, is for myself about beauty and not because I'm a man, you cant have missed the art & divinity reference.
I read a good critic figuring, things that we all 'want' power, knowledge and beauty, but I'm not a big fan of 'the greek knew everything', so
I'll just say that for me, the film is about what allow us to transcends beyond the life limit and the answer is like always Imagination.
life limits : p,k,b and you can figure they are all linked to reproduction, and ofc imagination linked to immortality, with the work left by countless artist as a legacy.
Did I mention that the first thing Lucy do when she powerup ? Lure the guy who is limited to 'reproduction'.

In the same category you have limitless; which is more axed around the limit, and especially power, he is indeed more psychological.
The film isnt favorited cause I'm not a man of Art, but I like imagination, so its more like a once 'dessert' to try than a regular 'hors d'oeuvre'.
