Great performances from a exceptional cast full of British talent telling an important story, but the film was often far too whimsical or heavy-handed for me, and the writing was very clumsy: the dialogue seemed unnatural, and the villains were all very thinly characterised. 11 years 2 months ago -

Standard fight for your rights film, they even had the boss's wife and the union's rep meeting by chance in the school.Watchable but hardly earth shattering, although I suppose a lot of young people don't even know that it was common place to pay women less. From wiki ..Employment at the plant peaked at around 40,000 workers in 1953.
Following the change to only building engines it now employs around 2,000 people. 3 years 2 months ago -

Complete nonsense. An important historical subject dramatised to absurdity. The portrayal of Barbara Castle as some ridiculous Bond villain with her two fumbling henchmen was beyond ludicrous. Very disappointing. 11 years 2 months ago
