Wonderfully charming film about a penpal relationship between two people who struggle to understand the world around them. One is a young girl from Australia and the other a middle aged man from the US. If you find something to identify with in this film it will pluck at your heart strings whilst adding a little bit of comedy into the mix. The movie deals with some mature subjects but it's not too complicated as to not be enjoyed by young and older alike.
I adored this movie. Having seen Harvie Krumpet a few years back I knew what it would be like and I was not disappointed one bit. It was sweet, it was sad and it really did feel like I could relate with both Max and Mary, despite the terribly dark situations it offered up. I loved the mash of their cultures and countries, particularly in the start. I was born in Mt Waverley just as Mary was and felt lonely my whole life, I wish I had had a Max to teach me about prosti-tubes and where babies come from in America.
this movie was a lot darker and sadder than what i expected, but i still loved it. i appreciated the details in the scenery and the claymation was fantastic. there was a lot of effort put into this film and i found it very easy to relate to the story.
How anyone can say that this film was boring? I was entertained throughout the entire movie and I sobbed like a little child at the end. Really wonderful film, depicting loneliness very well.
Such a simplistically beautiful movie. The cinematography is wonderful, as well as the story line. Unlike most of the people commenting on here, I didn't want it to end.

Funny and fun to watch.Couldn't see this movie in any other style, perfect.
Depressing and easy to relate to but I do want more for Mary at the end.

Beautiful and deep. I love how it showcased disorders like Asperger's and depression yet still remained light-hearted. It's a must-watch.tara-
it looks so innocent, like a childrens movie. but at the end it was so incredibly amazing and deep and i cant even describe what it was!Atom

Overflowing with imagination, humor, and a dark sense of risk-taking that few animated movies ever explore. Incredible movie.indiastokers

Dark and beatiful. An animation for adults, not children.Rohit
