Awful, but not even the meta, funny, enjoyable kind of awful. It feels more like a generic direct-to-video "kid's" movie targeted to eight-year-old boys who like playing smartphone games. I have a lot of respect for Takashi Murakami as a visual artist, but I'm confident to say that (1) he had no idea what he was doing here, (2) the team he assembled, from the writers and production designers to the actors and cinematographers, were amateurish at best and disconcertingly immature at worst, and (3) the decision to make this film live action and not animated was a horrible mistake.

From the wiki page:
"Jellyfish Eyes garnered generally mixed to negative reviews from critics, with common criticisms going towards its derivative nature and underwhelming story. [...] A reviewer for The New York Times dismissed the movie's camera work, "tedious" audio such as the overuse of screaming and the overly-bright score, incompetent special effects and inconsistent pacing."

"A sequel to the film has been announced."

Was happy when I found out that my library had this title (until I watched it).
