I just can't believe what they did to some of these songs...It's like some advanced form of torture, and people actually say they love watching such disgusting acts
It was bad until it reached the melodramatic-tango-roxanne, which for me, reached a whole new level of cheesiness in cinema history. Really disastrous movie for me. What a waste of money, actors, musicians, and over all, what a waste of Nicole Kidman!
The musical is turned on its head with the use of popular music in new contexts, so if you can stomach the frenetic first 15 minutes, the rest will play itself out as beautiful operatic romance laced with tragedy.
Great musical, I love very much some of the songs.
Nicole kidman was very beautifull and did a very good job, Ewan McGregor was charming like always.

Bar Luhrmann is a director I cannot stand. His defilement of Shakespeare in Romeo Plus Juliet was an obscenity; this wasn't much better. Someday, I'll watch The Great Gatsby so I can galvanize my hatred.
