   Howard as Captain Bligh just doesn't do it for me like Laughton did in the 1935 version. That being said, it's a grand picture in scope and spectacle. The wide open shots are majestic. Brando is... a bit odd in the role as Christian. He's perhaps a bit too entrenched in his trademark "bad boy" acting and when coupled with a very cerebral performance it just comes across as odd. Almost like they weren't even content with Christian being young and rebellious, they had to somehow make his intelligence seem greater than Bligh. A suave, contemplative, rebel with a cause against a brutal tyrant. It... sort of works. 3 years 9 months ago
