   Anyone watching a racing car movie based on a computer game franchise and then expecting an intricate plot or multilayered screenplay needs to pull their head out of their ass.

   when it comes to fast action movie, i dont ask for much. Just great action, without terrible acting and plot. And that is what i got with this movie.
   
   The plot is a little straight forward and one dimensional. The acting was ok. Most of the supporting cast are new comers that do a good job of shining without taking the spotlight from the leads. Domonic Cooper looked like he was phoning it in, but he's done so much good i'll let this one slide. Michael Keaton looked like he was in it for the paycheck, he didnt care much about this movie but he did look like he was enjoying himself. not a very demanding role but sometimes you can watch a movie and think the only reason this actor is here is to put his name on the poster. Aaron Paul, fresh off his "Breaking Bad" run hasn't seem to shed the bruiting former rebel character he developed over 6 years on tv. It is still here. While its not a bad choice for the character, another actor couldve given more personality. Not great but passable.
   
   Imogen Poots is the one i liked. I hate the pretty blond in a movie that is just suppose to be the damsel in distress, or worse, the opposite. The girl that is an expert on everything. Here she is just an expert on cars, she has a valid reason for being in the movie and has some short comings as a character. She does a good job of balancing the line of confidence and naiveness her character has to exhume.
   
   The action was great though. Well filmed car chases and no two sequences looked the same. It was very much set up like a video game. There were reasons to use different cars at different times. There was a reason to root for the character and an understanding that what happens in this movie has consequences (spoiler, a lot of the main characters go to jail).
   
   It was not just another dumb action movie, just one that knew what it was and delivered. No false promises, just a need for speed
