Poor Christine. Two of your lovers are idiots and the third is insane. Better movie next time!

Ugh! Was not a fan of this version. Baffling writing and directorial choices.

Despite the luminous Technicolor cinematography, this is typical 1940s Universal horror fare. No more, no less.

Man, this was dull. It won some Oscars, but for art direction and color cinematography. It kind of shows how color film was more of a novelty at the time. Either that or there just weren’t many color films that stood the test of time made that year. I checked the competition in each category and haven’t seen any of them.

Worth a view for its spectacular Technicolor photography.

this anemic bloodcurdler is a passionless gothic romance with foppish characters, lame jokes and an unclimactic climax – not in the book
