it knew when and how to impact and some of it's moments are now burned on my mind, marked... it was one of these films that made me smile by myself with just quiet images and poignant dialogue, and stares and glimpses... I really liked it

Absolutely beautiful, I relished every scene, but was deeply surprised by how little it required to bring tears to my eyes. A look, a longing, a haunting last image, it didn't need to nudge me or spell it out for me, it was like a nod or a smile was all I needed to understand and feel deep emotion.

Masterpiece? I don't know. But it's very good. It takes a good while for them to pull the trigger, but when they do, you feel it.

Edit: This movie has stuck with me. It's a total and complete masterpiece.

To be honest, I was a little disappointed- mainly because I expected too much because I think the world of Tomboy. That being said: This is not a bad movie, not at all. But it is not a masterpiece either. It is beautiful and it is artful, but it doesn’t convey the genius idea that stands behind its creation. (The interviews with Sciamma and the cast are great, I highly recommend watching some.)
Then again, if you really want to be the talk of the town at festivals, your film needs to be a bit pretentious. For me, luckily, the pretentiousness isn’t annoying enough to spoil the film for me. I still enjoyed it and will eventually watch it again. I just feel they overthought everything a little bit. So 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

This one had raised many expectations after Tomboy. The first conclusion report is that
the story is great, the directing poor. With such a minimalist film it gives rise to certain problems.
