This is one of the most "eighties" movies ever made. But it's still very enjoyable. And yeah, Prince's charisma is what holds the whole thing together.
The main problem with this movie is that the soundtrack has come to overshadow the film. It’s hard to believe “the kid” is supposed to be struggling with his act while pumping out hit after iconic hit. It is also hard to believe that The Time is up to the challenge of being the rival band. Prince’s charisma will make any other band look like an also-ran. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a strong film with great music but it is a little difficult to look past some of these things.
