This is a tour de force from writer, director and star Sylvester Stallone who continues the wit, charm, romance and thrilling action from the original in style. The movie is surprisingly well written for a sequel and also surprisingly well directed from an actor who never looked particularly artistic. The story is built upon through predictable, but logical steps as Rocky's naive, happy-go-lucky bum from the street is unable to deal with money, fame and a life outside boxing, thus being driven back into the ring, not only out of monetary necessity, but also to restore his pride and self-esteem.
Not bad at all, it is well written, but it is somewhat disappointing in comparision with the first one, specially the final fight wich is not that well filmed this time.

Rocky is in 19 official lists. Rocky II is in none. How is this allowed?kzer_za
A surprisingly solid sequel. The ending is, I think, handled well and keeps the underdog spirit of the original.Joris B.
