To echo other comments: ABSOLUTELY watch the series AND "End of Evangelion" before this. This is almost a recap of what you'll see there, with far fewer details and less cohesion.
After you watched the series and EoE, you might wanna give this a watch after not seeing the series for a while, or perhaps read through the special features of the DVD which explain things to you that aren't explained in the show. 10 years 6 months ago -
