I have no idea why so many people hate it. Most of the time I hear the complain that it has too many villains and not enough time to develope them. I don't agree. Maybe three story lines in one film is too much, but they were tied pretty well together and had the same overall theme: revenge and forgiveness. Also, I liked the fact that
Sandman killed uncle Ben
, however it's also a very frequent complain for no apparent reason. Basically everything what bothered the general audience didn't bother me at all (like the USA flag, wtf? Big fockin' deal). Maybe not being nitpicky is my super power.
P.S. Yes, Venom was poorly done. I agree with that.
The "Army of Darkness" of the Spider-Man series. Even more goofy than the first two, which can work if you're on Sam Raimi's absurd wavelength. Not the first two, but not totally bad.
Here is what breaks my heart about this film: Thomas Haden Church kills it as the Sandman. But every other part was overblown and overdone. I could accept the Harry/insane Goblin bit. But why oh why didn't they wait on Venom? He felt like an afterthought. And Spider-Man felt completely dislikable in a whiny and annoying way in this one. Overall, probably not as bad as its rep, but easily the weakest of the 3 Raimi films.
I watched Spider-Man 3 determined to prove to myself it wasn't as bad as reported. And I was right. Yes, there's too much going on here, and Venom certainly doesn't fit the theme of forgiveness that's motivating the rest of the screenplay. Most certainly, the film would have worked better if Peter went over the edge without the help of the black costume (which pretty much acquits him of his misdeeds), and Venom's story deserved its own feature (instead of taking vital screen time away from Sandman's). Still, the scenes taken out of the flawed structure do work more often than not. Some fun, some emotion, Gwen's a hottie, scenes for every recurring character... The parts are better than their sum.
The whole emo Spidey bit in the middle is unspeakably awful and there are way too many plot strands for it to work. Not as bad as people would have you believe though.

Another nice Spidey-sequel. I found it interesting to see so many villains in one movie and the development of Harry's character.Scream1008

Not as bad as I expected- "I like to be bad; it makes me feel good." One of the lame lines that is unintentionally funny.Sarblade
What a shitty movie. Venom sucks..he must be 5x bigger than spiderman.jerichoholic
Not so bad, but it wasn't that good either. It had too many bad guys.Showing items 1 – 15 of 27
