'When the grandson of a gun wielding woman is murdered by neo-nazi surf punks in the post-apocalyptic future, this grandma hunts them down for some bloodthirsty revenge.'

Watched this because of this genius plot description but the movie really was beyond horrible...

This movie sucks hard. You expect it to be bad, but then it's worse!

Surf Nazis is a mildly surrealistic (partly unintended) action B-movie with some some confusing directional choices (and a strange plot probably written after making up the title).

Society (or at least a beach) has fallen prey to violent gangs. The plot of the movie is centered around gang rivalry and a black mamas revenge on a murder committed by the "Surf Nazis". The Surf Nazis is the largest and leading gang, consistent of "Adolf" and his pals "Mengele" and "Eva" and a couple more (all 20-somethings and surfers).

Around 1/3 of the scenes in the movie ties well into the plot, making the plot seem weak and unimportant and rest of the scenes very confusing and seemingly unmotivated. This is clearly a deterrent for most people, but I particularly love this and find it entertaining about B movies (though this isn't quite like a Herzog-movie).

The repetitious soundtrack is an instant classic too, which makes it so much better.

This is famous for being bad, which is a shame. Truly bad movies really don't upset people and are just forgotten, while the "worst movies" lists are more often very memorable low budget exploitation movies with bad acting (often intended). This is a Troma movie. If you know what that means and is appealed by it, you will probably like it. Most Troma movies were just excuses to show violence and/or nudity around some weak nonexistent plot at a point in time when violence and nudity were scarce and controversial in movies. The few ones people have actually heard of and remember are the best and most memorable ones, and this is one of them.

Having said that, they could have made more out of it, and it doesn't deliver quite as much in terms of exploitation, gore or innovative plot elements. It's more of the weird B movie with strange and confusing direction, lacking close up shots and character development, but with a few badass moments spicing it up.

I'd rate it 6/10, and it's not the first B-movie I'd recommend (Evil Dead II probably is).
