Disposable and utterly forgettable entertainment for kids. Feels like a product, way too much CGI, nonsensical plot, unconvincing villains, etc. Very flawed but somewhat enjoyable nonetheless, thanks to the good pacing.

Not a bad effort to be fair. Better than BaysTranformers massacre

I completely forgot Megan Fox was starring as April. As soon as she appeared on the big screen I was frothing at the mouth and wanted to throw my right shoe at the guy sitting in front of me! BUT THEN .... I slowly accepted that this was not going to change and forced myself to be objective in my analysis of her performance. In short, her acting was mediocre but not terrible. In fact, I tied my shoelaces at the end and the guy in front of me was saved from my wrath. The film overall was fast paced and there were funny moments. I did enjoy it!

6.5 out of 10 for me!

some decent humor, action, and a glimmer of spirit from the original series buried underneath the flair and flash of an overwrought effort.

I liked this because I always loved TMNT since I was a kid and played with their figurines all the time, but it doesn't wipe out the fact that this movie could be made better.

Simple storyline, too many flashback for expositions, subpar action, questionable CGI and creepy looking rat and turtles.
And the last scene is just the same in The Amazing Spiderman's last scene except now it's in daytime. Although the action here is not too shabby.
Very forgettable. Pass the movie unless you sleep with Michael Bay's picture beside your bed. 4/10

Platinum Dunes remakes things and just makes them super, super dumb. This was no exception.

Just because something is made for a younger audience and totally tongue-in-cheek doesn't mean it cannot have value.

You can argue as much as you want, that the turtles never were to be taken too seriously (at least the movie adaptations and the cartoon series) or that this was created for new and/or younger viewers. I thought this movie to be one of the worst i've seen in a long long time.
A horrible origin story that destroys any possible emotional bonding you might be having with the turtles fighting the shredder and actors that could not have been casted worse.
Yeah, the 1990s movie probably is cheesy and lots of folks loving it for the sake of good memories. But then again you can feel that someone sat there and actually put a lot of heart in it, the fighting scenes were great, the turtles costumes look still awesome to this date imho.
I don't want to discuss the impact that all this cgi-crap nowadays have on films, but thats still the biggest flaw for me. Nothing real, dull actors and a huge waste of time.
Still i know that the actual target audience might just like most of it, but they did no favor at all for anyone who grew up loving these heroes in a halfshell.

With a movie like this I think a list of grievances makes for a better review.

1. Mr. Bay thinks that Megan Fox is so attractive that you'll be so focused on her looks that you'll totally forget that she can't act or recite her lines convincingly. The movie would have probably been much improved by a different casting of April.

2. The fabled Foot clan is just a bunch of thugs with masks and guns. Maybe it isn't a huge deal but most incarnations of the clan at least gave the impression that they were also trained in the arts of Ninjitsu.

3. The turtle's CGI is rather ugly and their personalities even uglier. Each of the turtles gets maybe one personality trait that they are known for and that is as far as the character development goes throughout the film. Making Michelangelo horny for Megan Fox throughout the whole film was especially cringe worthy.

4. Making Shredder a ninja Megatron was classic Michael Bay. The character and his ridiculous armor complete with magnetic knives is a testament to how lazy M. Bay can be. It was the easiest thing to write off Shredder as nothing more than a Japanese flavored Decepticon rather than an actual villain.

So the turtles are back to movies, but this time they are all made by CGI, I don't have a big complaint about that, they look ok, Raphael was the ugliest of them all for sure, Splinter was..., is complicated to make Splinter look good, Shredder looks like a transformer with swiss-knives as weapons.
The personality of the turtles was well executed, they stay loyal to themselves, the humans not so.
If this movie had a better casting choice for April O´neil, maybe it would be taken more seriously, it is need it a strongest human character that works as a link between the turtles and the human world.
I enjoyed the movie because of the nostalgia of seeing the TMNT on screen, but if you don´t like them, then skip this one.
