SPOILERS. The army medic has the knowledge and equipment to transplant a heart from a cyborg to a person? Under camouflage netting? Skynet’s stronghold is within walking distance of the rebel base?! The terminator-cycles are designed to allow humans to ride them?? Skynet knows that Reese is in their facility, knows that Reese will go back in time to spawn Connor, and doesn’t kill Reese while he’s at their installation? END OF SPOILERS

Great action scenes and great cinematography but the rest of the movie is lacking. No plot, bad acting(you can do better Bale!), too many plot holes. I mean why do terminators install USB plugs on their motor-terminators?

Terminator 2 (T2) has long been my #1 favorite movie (circa 1992–2004). In recent years, my admiration of Cameron's work has continued to grow.

Then came T3, made without Cameron. T3 clearly was a mistake. It neglected most of the subtleties that T2 had in reference to T1—cross-references are a trademark of Cameron in all of his films—not to mention the countless discrepancies in the storyline, and the "cheap fixes" to do away with other key elements. It was a decent action movie, but it did not fit in the Terminator franchise.

Hence my enormous reluctance to watch this fourth instalment, which I feared was another T3. Now, 3.5 years after its release, I can conclude they have tried to compensate for the mistakes of T3. In fact, I would even say they overcompensated at times.spoiler The film makers went out of their way to throw in as many references to T1/T2 as they possibly could, and my personal opinion is that they succeeded with that. The director also did a fine job recreating the feel of T1 and T2 in terms of filming style and angles.

Overall: great action, direction and CGI; good acting; okay soundtrack (not that memorable), but most of all a nice "connect the dots" for the old fans... which should have been part 3.

Salvation is just a run of the mill action film with Terminator facts scattered throughout. There are a lot of things that just seemed pointless, predictable, and dumb, (Blair, Skynet, the heart transplant). Okay action, but the worst of the Terminator franchise.

From the writing team that gave us Catwoman, The Net and Terminator 3... Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in Terminator Salvation, does it? While I lay plenty of responsibility at director McG's feet, as he did deliver an often-confusing monochrome actioner filled with underdeveloped characters, the problem mostly comes down to premise. If there's value at all in doing a non-time travel Terminator movie set after Judgment Day, then it has to be John Connor's yet-to-be-written victory over Skynet. Why were we fighting to keep Connor alive in all the other films? Show us. What NO ONE asked for is the story of how Connor met Kyle Reese (and as a punchline, how he got that scar). EVEN LESS if it's gonna entail John Connor playing second fiddle to a cyborg with a heart of gold (Chekhov's heart, as it turns out, which isn't a spoiler because I've never seen so many circles drawn around a script item in any movie ever) who gets into way more action than he does. We're supposed to care about this character's redemption arc, but his back story is as underdeveloped as anyone else's. There are a few cool action set pieces, but it's telling the wrong story.

The third Terminator movie is underrated. This one, though mildly entertaining, pale in comparison with what I consider to be the original trilogy. It is loud, unsubtle and lacks mystery. There was only one really good scene that made me sit up and take notice: the introduction of the first T-800. That was awesome for us nostalgics, but overall the movie was rather dull. And I missed that epic Terminator theme music... Danny Elfmans new score was good, but sounded very normal and could have been used in any action flick with a few adjustments. When I listen to a Terminator soundtrack I want something EPIC. I loved that feeling of doom coming creeping up on humanity in those first movies... as I already touched upon, this one lacks a feeling of wonder and mystery.

One of the worst films I have ever seen. Personally, I don't know why people are able to say that this is better than the third installment. The third installment obviously wasn't a masterpiece but at least it was fun and a good way to pass the time.

I'm guessing MariusMariusMarius hasn't seen many movies. Salvation is certainly flawed, but worst movie of all time? Not even close.

What a shitty movie with absolutely no plot.

It's interesting to note that all Sam Worthington films are terrible.

It's a good action movie and an okay installment in the Terminator-series, but it's not without faults.
