After the consistently high octane and poignant FF7, this installment was slightly disappointing. The premise is very 80s (Russian bad guys, nuclear launch codes and a laughably evil villain) and any semblance of realism is dispensed with pretty early on. Special-effects heavy scenes feel weightless and without any sense of real threat. The early sequence in Cuba is gorgeous and great fun but it heads south pretty quickly. Should still do brilliantly at the box office though.

Predictable plot, completely over the top and I've been confronted with so much testosterone I grew a beard and my non existing balls dropped. Saving grace were the occasional funny insult. There really is no more need for another fast and furious movies.

Agree with the others here.

Nice start in glorious Cuba but then becomes a clichéd 80s cold war action movie.

Definitely a big step down from the previous movie.

4/10.

Isn't it a pity how much of another F&F movie was built around the scenes of The Rock & Jason Statham?

This is like a three-cheeses something with cheese topping and an extra cream cheese on the side...
Annnd that's only 1h into the movie...

spoiler

I really expected a simple enjoyable watch like most of the previous F&F but this one is not working for me. :/

The Fate of the Furious continues the Fast/Furious franchise's superheroes with cars saga by testing just what it means when Dom says "It's about family!", betraying his friends to big bad Charleze Theron for... well, that would be telling. While this isn't as great (or emotional) a ride as F7 was, it's still packs enough of a punch that would shouldn't he disappointed. The climax is a bit overdrawn, and the trailer spoiled too much in my opinion, but expect a similar level of vehicular action, plus another great comedic turn for Jason Statham (who knew? right?). For those who feel the franchise has gotten too ridiculous (though I think it's not more extreme than a Captain America movie, indeed there are shades of Civil War in this one), the opening scene is no less extreme, but somehow more grounded in what the movies used to be about. Also, when are you planning to stop going to see these; it's been completely bonkers since F5. And I, for one, am enjoying it.
