   This film seems to be relatively disliked because it doesn't contain as much action as the other films, which is a shame, because it's probably the best of the lot so far. There's a lot of subtle commentary on the power of propaganda, and the reality of revolutions. This isn't about a war of firepower, so much as it is a war of mindshare, and it's far more interesting and unique for it.
   
   It's refreshing to see a movie aimed at young adults which has the balls to take on these kind of topics, but I have a sad feeling it'll be punished for it. 9 years 4 months ago

   Good movie, great acting, great effects, all that. But I kinda feel the split of the book shows too much. There's no real climaxe to this movie because there's just no climaxe in the middle of a book. Still a good movie but it just really comes off as a build up for the last one, which it obviously is. But, honestly, this could've all just been one movie and we'd all be happy. Instead we have to wait another year for the end which feels kinda unnecessary. 9 years 5 months ago

   This movie is very different from the two first in the series, and at some points, it actually felt like a completely new story. I guess that many die-hard fans will dislike this, but for a guy who is older than their target group for the first movies, this was absolutely excellent. I have previously stated that the first and second movies are very childish, and now they finally took it a step further and grew up.
   
   Overall a good movie, the cinematography, plot, acting and soundtrack is surprisingly good.

   The scene where Katniss sings "The Hanging Tree" followed by the attack on the dam in district 5 was purely amazing, my favorite scene by far in this movie.

   
   
   It is a long and relatively slow movie, but it does what it is made to do; fill us in on the story and build up the excitement for Part 2. If you don't have any interest in the series, wait until the last one comes out, so you can watch them together. If you like the series, go ahead, but it will be a long year to wait, it ends right before things are going to happen.
   
   Yes, there are many unrealistic and "what" things going on,

   such as the fact that Katniss shot down a plane with her bow and arrow-bomb,

   but this is not meant to be a realistic story. It's another sci-fi/action/drama depicting a dystopian society which would not be realistic by any means, of course the heroes will be "too good", and certain parts will be a bit over the top, but that is what it is, and we should take it as such.
   As for the discussion on if they could have finished it in one part; they could, but I believe that the result would have been mediocre at best. There is a lot going on despite being a slow movie, but this will probably be the point where a lot of people fall off due to the lack of action.
