I was excited as hell to see the first one when it came out in 2001. Half-heartedly went to see the second one the following year. And finally forced myself to watch Return of the King a few days ago, from nothing more than a sense of duty to finish what I had started. Meh.

I honestly think the disappointment of the series is to the fault of Peter Jackson. Just look at his other films: King Kong, The Lovely Bones. Do we really believe this man to be a good director?

Boring as all hell and overrated as fuck. Can't believe they made this 4 hours long. The dungeon scenes were alright but the war scenes just went on and on and on, the same crappy shakycam close-up routine to hide the bad CG that made the Two Towers suckola. There's like 10 minutes of interesting content in the whole thing. It was just stuff and more stuff and more stuff. I don't give a fuck about any of it because it's so rote.
Also, Gandalf yet AGAIN is fighting in sword combat. He casts Light1 once and that's it. Oh yeah, he uses a spell that breaks Saruman's wand. Apart from this, zilch. Why is a magic user running at the forefront of an army? Like okay, let's forget how fucking boring and monotonous the rest of the movie is. It's a fantasy movie. WHY CAN'T GANDALF USE MAGIC? Saruman uses Magic Missile. The Lord of Nazgul uses projectile spells too. So they exist in universe. Yet Gandalf, who supposedly beat death and became enlightened, he can't even use Fire1 or some shit? He can't use levitate to save Saruman from getting splattered? Get outta here with this crap. Terrible fantasy, terrible writing, terrible movie.
Oh and Eowyn's fucking line was just the icing on the cake of shit.
One of the worst movies I've ever seen, hands down.

I didn't like it that much, but that's still a good movie, of course. I enjoyed some combat scenes, especially the feminist one. I disliked others, especially the racist one.

It's finally come into its own. Extremely beautiful and stunning, with everything falling into place, and tears being drawn from your eyes. Makes the entire trilogy a 12-hour must-see.

The only non-realistic films i loved is The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Wizard of Oz.
All three LOTR films has big spectacle and this one has great emotional and powerful scene for example i got chills when i saw Rohirrim charge. Peter Jackson and Howard Shore is genius.

The best among the trilogy. Special Edition DVD is about 4 hours long and I didn't even feel sleepy or bored.
