The second part of a trilogy that is a true masterpiece of film-making. What's to say about this part in particular: I did not expect that all the additional character would be introduced so smoothly and grow so dear to the audience so quickly. Great casting. Another wonderful thing about the second part is the character of Gollum and every aspect of it: The funny and yet very emotional script, the performance of Andy Serkis, the technology behind it... absolutely fascinating.

Great follow up in the trilogy. The extend blu ray looks and sounds amazing. My favorite of the 3.

Watched again for 8th time after listening to audiobook.
Excellent job with the script, better pacing than the book(s) (i.e "Book three" and "four")

I think I begin to figure out what is missing in this Peter Jackson trilogy: some of Tolkien's spirit and humor. I also perceived that the 3D scenes age very quickly. Still a nice movie to watch, though.

Fantastic film. Beautiful, funny, and the greatest CGI creation of all time. Serkis was robbed not tone nominated for an Oscar for his work here.

It's really grown on me over time. Fairly pensive and drawn out, but overall gives a 'war movie' feel emotionally. The characters all get drawn into a tough, drained out heart of darkness.

This was my first introduction to LOTR. There was nothing interesting playing at the movies so I decided to go see this one, not knowing anything about it. Jumping in completely cold, I was enchanted by the incredible spectacle that Jackson was crafting and the truly incredible use of CGI for Gollum and the massive battle scenes. I think it's my favorite of the trilogy, everything I love about LOTR is in it.

Better than Fellowship, the battles are spectacular and the Rohan especially well designed. The one flaw is perhaps the longish (or not long enough, if you speak to fans) Treebeard sequences.
